I first visited Australia in 2003 travelling along the East Coast for several weeks. I fell in love with the country and knew I wanted to come back, but since it’s a 25 hour travel day from the UK I didn’t return until a couple of years ago. On this second trip we choose to explore more of the west coast starting in beautiful Perth and onwards to Rottnest Island.
The landscapes of Australia are like no other, one minute you can be on a white sand beach, the next rocky red terrain as if from another planet and the next deep in the tropical rainforest. The diversity of the landscape throughout the country means it is constantly delighting a traveller looking for variety in just one country!
My second trip, made me fall in love with Australia all over again and in April last year Ryan and I decided to elope and marry on a beach just outside of Sydney! Before the wedding we had been travelling in Indonesia for many months and then bounced around the Philippines for 3 weeks, the long term travel, too much time spent in salt water and sun, plus the long flight over to Sydney really put a dent into my beauty routine.
As a traveller, I am quite used to changing time zones, hours spent in airplanes and moving climates regularly but it can definitely confuse my skin. So when I arrived in Australia a few days before the wedding I sought out some natural products to help rescue my skin after too much time in the sun trying frank body’s coffee scrubs for the first time. I was delighted with the results, my skin felt fresh, moisturised and clear.
Having fallen in love with the coffee scrubs I was excited to try the latest addition – A-Beauty scrub which features ingredients derived from Australia’s natural habitats and plants, some of which are native to the country and most likely you will come across at some point if you travel to Australia. Hence the name A-Beauty – which is short for Australian Beauty.
One of the key reasons I was excited to try the new scrub is because of the anti-aging properties delivered from the use of Kakadu Plum. The Kakadu Plum is found in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, and offers exceptional nutritional and antiseptic properties. The inclusion of this ingredient means the scrub can help fight blemish causing bacteria and repair damage caused by sun exposure.
The second ingredient which really piqued my interest was Finger Lime. Finger Lime is found in subtropical rainforests in Australia and has naturally occurring AHA which is known to brighten skin and fade scars, marks and pigmentation. This is EXACTLY what I need in a beauty product! I have had several surgeries so I have large visible scars on my stomach, my feet and on my neck, plus I have pigmentation on my face (despite being an avid Factor 50 user!) so I couldn’t be more excited to let the A-Beauty scrub start working it’s magic on my skin!
Finally, the scrub includes eucalyptus, you know the stuff the cute Australian koalas love to eat? Well, turns out they know what they are doing because eucalyptus is a great natural antiseptic with antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties – so for us humans it’s highly effective in treating acne.
As you may know I have been actively making steps to be a more responsible traveller and consumer. Switching to natural products for my beauty regime has been part of that, so I am delighted to be adding frank body clean beauty products packed with all the Australian goodness to my routine!
Now it’s time to strip off, jump in the shower and get scrubbing – I will just close my eyes and imagine I am back Australia until next time I go back!
